• Supported probation officers by organizing and maintaining physical case files, ensuring proper documentation for both misdemeanor and felony-level supervision cases.
• Assisted in the preparation of intake packets and observed the full intake process, gaining a working knowledge of how new probationers are briefed on their supervision conditions, reporting requirements, and sanction protocols.
• Observed officer-client interactions and learned how supervision officers conduct risk assessments, monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions, and implement graduated sanctions when necessary.
• Attended multiple court sessions in both District and County Court, where I observed plea agreements, motion to revoke hearings, judicial admonishments, and deferred adjudication proceedings. This experience allowed me to understand courtroom procedures and the legal foundations that initiate or modify community supervision.
• Gained a strong understanding of Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 42A, which governs adult probation, and learned how supervision terms are managed in accordance with state law, local policy, and individual case needs.
• Shadowed officers in case management duties including verifying employment, monitoring community service completion, and interpreting urinalysis results for substance compliance.
• Developed familiarity with common probation terms and practices such as revocation, modification of terms, early termination, technical violations, and conditions of community supervision.
