MACKENZIE VAN HOUTEN

I am currently enrolled as a sophomore communications major at the University of Georgia. I'm also involved in Greek life and the Student Merchandising Association. I'm skilled in communication, collaboration, and enjoy roles where I can work with others, be of service, be creative, and learn new things. I'm an organized and motivated individual, who's eager to utilize time management and organizational skills across diverse settings. I will be seeking entry-level opportunities and internships to enhance my abilities while contributing to the company's or brand's growth.

• Competitive Cheer Team, Grades 7-12 Required to try out each year. Cheered for football during competition season and basketball after competition season ends. Won coaches award and all region. Won state championships in 2020 and 2021, as well as state-runner up in 2023.
• Mock Trial, Grade 11, Club run through school. Won a spot at state after regional competition where I earned recognition as outstanding witness for my team.

• EMS Closet, 3 hrs
• UofSC Community Garden, 5 hrs, Volunteered over summer to help take care of the garden.
• Families Helping Families, 8 hrs, Every year, as a class, and as a cheer team tradition, we adopted a family and provided them with gifts and necessities for Christmas.
• HomeWorks Compass Program, 06/01/21, 5 days, 32 hrs, Through local church, groups were assigned a home to help repair for a family in need.
• IB Student Volunteer, 72 weeks, 6-8 hrs, As a previous IB and NHS student, we were required to complete a minimum of 4 hrs of service per semester.
• Sorority Service Hours, Required to complete service hours each semester to retain membership

• Was asked to design the 2023 flyer for AC Flora cheerleading Little Girls Clinic and the Region Competition. Flyers for the clinic were posted on multiple social media platforms as an advertisement, while the competition flyer was sent out to coaches across the state as advertisement. I came up with the original idea and was able to execute my advertising and creative skills in designing a flyer for cheer using canva.
• Co-ran and produced video and photo content for AC Flora IB Program Instagram & AC Flora Falcons TikTok account senior year of high school.
• Selected to do video editing and submission of 1104 Biology final project.
• Communications major with a minor in fashion merchandising and an interest in PR and social media relations.
• Collaborated with a fellow SMA member to create a unique style look for our Fall 2025 Look-book that was published on Instagram and presented at the premiere on November 19th, 2025.
