I have over 17 years of experience in customer service. 12 of them with Sarasota Memorial healthcare system. In my years working with SMH, I've become an expert at data entry and transaction management. Always going above and beyond to get the job done. I have also, developed exceptional communication abilities that throughout the years have paid off. Collaborating with different departments and entities have polished my teamwork skills. I would like to consider myself a dedicated and tenacious employee who easily adapts to new environments.
Working as a Patient Benefit Specialist consists of mainly assessing how we can help the patient.
We work with programs such as financial assistance, charity, disability, family Medicaid, and different benefits through Social Security administration. All which require different applications to be submitted, along with the supporting documentation to ensure benefits are approved.
Within this title I take on different roles, including, creating estimates, billing, scheduling, insurance verification, pharmacy and discharge needs.
I take pride in going out of my way to help the patient.
As a patient registration representative in the Emergency room department I reduced patient anxiety by creating welcoming and supportive registration environment. Due to the fast pace work flow, I became very quick-moving at completed the registration process. Always going the extra mile to try to obtain accurate information. For example, by calling the insurance company directly or patient family members. Learning about all the different types of insurances and how to load them into the system was key, to ensure there were no billing errors.
Within my responsibilities I collected co-pays, deductibles, flat-rates, etc. I was also the designated trainer for new hires despite being a Rep I. Once I became a Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), it then brought upon more responsibility as a Rep II.
I was a sales representative/secretary. I first greeted the possible buyers, and listened to what their vehicle interests and needs were. I assisted as much as possible with finding something of their liking. Although for the most part I was in the office, answering phones, posting vehicles for sale online, updating information on the dealer website.
When ordering parts for vehicles I made sure the invoices were always in the correct files. My position as secretary included finalizing the sales process, by running costumer's credit, checking what they were eligible for. Also sending the request for the loans to the banks we worked with, as well as putting together the contract and obtaining signatures and payments.
711 always had a very diverse set of clients come in. This helped me tremendously with my customer service skills. One of the first things I did as customers walked in the store was to greet them with a smile. Made sure they felt welcomed and always made myself available if they needed any help with anything. I was responsible for making fresh coffee, fresh food, keeping the store nice and clean. At the end of the day I was to count the money in the registers and deposit it into the safe. My manager, when needed, asked me to check inventory and place new orders for things we were short on.
My responsibilities included greeting customers, and making sure my work station was always clean. As this was my very first job, I learned the importance of great customer service and the great responsibility of handling money. I became very knowledgeable on how to deal with unhappy customers and how to take the initiative to resolve the issue. I also gained counting money skills, and became very agile. I made sure my register always balanced at the end of the day.
