Constitutional Policing Oversight and Compliance Sergeant
Los Angeles School Police Department
- Provide executive-level support and coordination for Department leadership initiatives, compliance programs, policy development, and strategic operational projects.
- Manage sensitive and confidential information involving personnel matters, operational initiatives, executive communications, compliance reporting, and policy discussions with professionalism and discretion.
- Assist executive leadership with conducting research and preparing background materials supporting executive decision making regarding Department operations, budget considerations, RIPA compliance reporting, and Department position recommendations.
- Assisted with development and implementation of the LASPD Constitutional Policing Oversight and Compliance Unit.
- Coordinated outreach and consultation with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Constitutional Policing Unit, including collaboration with executive advisors and legal counsel regarding development of LASPD compliance initiatives.
- Assisted with development of Department-wide roll call update training initiatives and recurring training calendars in partnership with LASPD Training Unit personnel and Department training cadres.
- Participated in and led executive-level meetings, supervisory meetings, operational briefings, and interdepartmental coordination meetings.
- Represented executive leadership on behalf of Lieutenants, Deputy Chiefs, and the Chief of Police during collaborative meetings and planning discussions.
- Prepared reports, briefing materials, executive correspondence, presentations, and operational summaries for Department leadership.
- Assisted previous Chiefs of Police with reorganizing and developing updated LASPD organizational charts reflecting Department operational changes and strategic priorities.
- Assisted with auditing confidential Internal Affairs records and compiling pepper spray use reporting data for executive review and outside entity inquiries.
- Coordinated and supported policy modernization projects involving artificial intelligence in law enforcement, tactical medicine protocols, EMT standing orders, and Naloxone reporting compliance.
- Collaborated with LAUSD Office of General Counsel, LAUSD Medical Services, Los Angeles County EMS, Los Angeles Fire Department, LASPD Training Unit personnel, and outside law enforcement agencies on policy implementation and operational coordination.
- Maintained working relationships with LAUSD Maintenance and Operations, Personnel Commission, Office of Emergency Management, and Government Relations regarding operational initiatives and Department input on legislative matters.
