Serve as senior management representative in negotiations with local union partners. Chaired multiple VISN and facility governance committees, including VISN 12 Capital Management Subcommittee, Hines VA Resource Board, Labor Management Forum, Water Safety Committee, Safety Committee, and Administrative Executive Board. Lead life safety and environment-of-care accreditation efforts for external bodies, including The Joint Commission. - Identified safety risks within the hospital construction safety program and developed strategies to mitigate and correct deficiencies in confined spaces programs, EOC, and Lock Out Tag Out process.
- Created strategies to reduce budgetary constraints using strategic hiring of FTE, reducing excessive contractual agreements, and identifying collaborative opportunities with VA facilities within the Chicago market, resulting in a reduction of over 87 FTE and meeting the target of having net zero growth.
- Implemented current SCIP-approved projects to maximize project submissions and address facility infrastructure and decrease challenges.
- Worked with VISN 12 leadership to secure an additional $10 million in non-recurring maintenance construction to upgrade elevators that were failing.
- Increased enrollment by over 3% over previous years through outreach efforts and implementing lost to enrollment follow-up strategies. The first increase in 4 years for the facility.
- Lead budget update meetings with Service Chiefs and Supervisors and labor partners.
- Served on ICC during air conditioning outage on the spinal cord injury unit, developing strategies to reduce impact on Veteran Care through partnering with local community emergency resources.
- Implemented generic inventory packaging (GIP) for the engineering department, resulting in a cost savings of $1.2 million.
- Identified new prime vendor products that were converted, saving $1.1 million annually.
- Transitioned printing contract services that resulted in a $600,000 cost savings annually by reducing multiple print media being sent to patient populations, consolidating the mailings into fewer mailings.
