I worked as a barista at a coffee hut called First Cup this summer. I was trained in making drinks, and I was working solo for 7-hour shifts, which meant I was opening, managing, and closing the shop independently. I was expected to provide fast and pleasant service, and it was important that I make conversation with every customer.
