Communications Unit Supervisor: Responsible for the supervision of the Communications Unit, its staff and all functions . Serve as the department's Local Agency Security Officer (LASO) with FDLE as the security point of contact between the agency, FDLE and the DOJ, responsible for the overall security of the Communications Center and all related systems and equipment.
Public Information Officer: Responsible for reporting directly to the Chief of Police all media related issues and serving as a liaison between the Police Department, the news outlets, and the public by facilitating news interviews, issuing news releases, media advisories, disseminating items of interest to the media and residents as well as working closely with the internal city media department to provide content and input for city social media page, website, etc. Networking and building crucial relationships with media outlets at all levels to maintain transparency and accountability to the communities we serve and the public in general.
Background Investigator: Responsible for recruitment and the selection process which include conducting background investigations for both sworn and civilian positions. Actively coordinating and participating in all aspects of the hiring process up to the point of hire.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to serving as the Naloxone Coordinator for the department's Narcan program, writing state and federal grants, actively participating in the procurement process related to purchasing goods and services for the agency, processing reimbursements for officers detached to federal agencies, working on projects assigned by Command Staff and presenting to city officials if requested.
Duties included supervising all patrol functions as a First Line Supervisor, as well as serving as Shift and Incident Commander when needed.. Reviewing and approving reports and all relevant paperwork from subordinates. Handling citizen complaints and conducting related investigations when required. Documenting commendations, disciplinary actions and all supervisory paperwork in accordance with departmental policy and accreditation standards. Completing annual employee performance evaluations of subordinates, scheduling and approving time off, routinely approving squad payroll, monitoring officer productivity and work product as well as worked special projects assigned by Command Staff.
Duties included serving as a second in command supervisor at the Patrol level under the Shift Sergeant. Responsible for assisting the Shift Sergeant with supervising the squad of Police Officers. Responded to Calls for Service in the capacity of a Supervisor and when requested by Officers. Handled officer complaints, completed commendations and disciplinary action when applicable. Assisted the Shift Sergeant with Administrative paperwork, approving arrest forms and all related paperwork. Served as Shift Commander when Sergeant was not working.
Duties included training new officers in all multitudes of patrol functions and all relevant areas of police work. With a focus on officer safety, report writing, multitasking and high liability areas. Through instruction, mentorship and guidance motivated and prepared new officers to go onto the field as solo officers. Required a vast knowledge & expertise in the policies and procedures of the agency and all its functions.
