Worked in direct coordination with engineering consultants and contractors to assist IRWD's Dams & Storage division with new and ongoing projects. Gained experience in project management including crafting and executing agreements, drafting project manuals and schedules, bringing construction projects to bid, etc. Also had large involvement with IRWD's Dam Safety Program, which aims to increase the thoroughness of risk analysis methods and emergency prevention programs that keep IRWD's many dams safe.

  • Operations and Pipeline Support: assisted project managers with maintenance, repair, and improvement projects for existing IRWD facilities. Frequent construction site visits. Completed submittal reviews, as-built research, and meeting agendas.
  • Development Services: interfaced with the public and design firms to coordinate the planning and development of new projects. Daily work included plan reviews, utility requests, and meetings with developers. Michael revolutionized the division's "Facilities Database" via Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI.
  • Dams and Storage: helped project engineers with various projects pertaining to IRWD's water storage, both for potable and non-potable systems. Frequent coordination with surveyors and GIS for the Dam Safety Project. Michael created a new piezometer data search tool in Power BI to facilitate ease of communication between inspectors and engineers.
  • Treatment and Conveyance: work often included submittal review and site visits. Mostly new treatment systems (potable and non-potable), but some improvement projects for existing treatment and distribution systems.
