In my current position, I perform many functions including but not limited to, scheduling, modeling, programming, equipment purchasing, estimating, lathe set-ups, limited mill set-ups, along with mentoring employees and other various duties

Main functions were CNC lathe set-up/operator and prototype machining.

I was in charge of setting up and operating a wide range of machines from a Tongtai robotic lathe to an NLX 3000/700 Cellos based mill/turn lathe with live tooling

Other functions included reducing over all run times by streamlining the manufacturing process, editing programs for better optimized cycle times all while maintaining a high quality standard of work.

Other duties included :

• Used various precision measuring instruments to check workpiece accuracy.
• Monitored equipment to detect and report malfunctions and prevent accidents.
• Inspected and measured machined parts for conformance to specified tolerances.
• Operated CNC and manual lathes, mills and drill presses to produce precision machined components.
• Trained and mentored new and existing machinists on proper machining techniques.

Accomplishments were being part of the team that developed and produced the wheels and other components for the Mars Rover Spirit and Opportunity.

On the job training in using Gibbs-Cam to model and program new parts, and learning to set-up, operate, and maintian a Mori-Seki mill/turn machine.
