General Technician

Amko Service Company
Gnadenhutten, OH
02.2007 - 04.2008
  • My duties at this position fell under welder/fabricator/mechanic. I did rehab work on tractor trailer units that were pressure vessels. The tankers hauled compressed gases such as Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen. I would often have to do preliminary inspections on the manifold cabinet which involved having to pressure check gas lines, and disassemble for weld repair. Tig welding would be used to accomplish this. The brass fittings on the end of the pressure tubes would need to be checked to see if the threads were within specifications. This would be done by using a thread check collar to do this. Checking the condition of the wheel bearings was also performed. Replaced as needed. I would often have to do tire mounting with the in shop tools. Repair welds were often done on the frames, and replacing the landing gear on the front of the units. This involved using a cutting torch to remove the old landing gear, and the new unit would be welded on with a mig welder. Downloading the tanks from the unit was often performed by using an overhead crane, and various pneumatic tools. Touch up Painting of the units would often be done by hand after they would come back from the paint shop. The units would also need custom fenders made by hand as well. New air brake systems would be installed along with the new wiring harness. This would be one of the last tasks performed on the units before the final checklist would be completed. General automotive repair was also performed on some of the vehicles used by the technicians. This includes oil changes, shock/strut replacement, ODB II diagnosis, wheel bearing replacement, frame repair, head gasket replacement, electrical component diagnosis. More details upon request.
  • Operated and maintained various tools and equipment for efficient service delivery.
