Weekly Social Gatherings, Team Building Exercises

I take part and mostly host in a weekly game of tabletop roleplay and referee a great number of players as well as guide them to a common goal. the title i hold is sometimes game master or the more common term Dungeon Master. This game involves using simple mathematics and sharp minded strategy. and throughout the year i have acquired certain skills from this hobby that i have applied to my work ethic.

  • Leadership Skills, All of my players communicate simultaneously, and it’s moments like these where a Dungeon Master like myself steps into the leadership role and helps the party become organized.
  • Social Skills, Regardless of the job I am applying for, the ability to interact with the people around me is critical.
  • Team Building Skills, Like leadership skills, team building is crucial to a company’s success. Many times, parties start as a diverse bunch of misfits who do not have any joint goals to work as a team.
  • Problem Solving Skills, No doubt playing Dungeons and Dragons cultivated my problem-solving skills. Throwing challenges at players, be it tactical boss fights or intricate riddles, requires meticulous problem-solving abilities.
  • Mediation Skills, Remembering that it is in fact a game sometimes tempers can rise between players so i turn to conflict resolution in a peaceful and firm manner, Many times, the best way to manage conflicting ideas is mediation.
  • Math Skills, For some, the least entertaining part of Dungeons & Dragon is Math. Mathematical calculations are essential for participating in this hobby.
  • Preparation and Planning Skills, A large part of your job as Dungeon Masters is preparing and planning sessions for my players. I also have to spend significant time creating back-up plans if my friends/players derail the campaign or go against my plans.
  • Experimentation and Visualization Skills, Dungeon Masters utilize visualization skills for conjuring up epic battles. However, visualization is also crucial for mapping out complicated procedures and experimenting with research and development.
