  • Prior to March 2024, I had been fulfilling the role quite frequently as First Assist, so ProHealth felt it would be appropriate to make a First Assist group at our campus. January 2023, I began the Surgical First Assist program through Meridian Institute of Surgical Assisting and promptly after graduating the program in February of 2024, became certified as a CSFA through NBSTSA March 1st 2024.
  • Assist in various types of surgeries such as orthopaedic, vascular, general surgery, gynecology, urology, plastics procedures tailoring assistance based on specific case requirements.
  • I try to reduce surgery time with efficient anticipation of surgeon''s needs, planning ahead of time with them.
  • Utilize strong problem-solving skills for effective troubleshooting during unexpected intraoperative challenges.
  • Contributed to the development of hospital protocols and guidelines for the role of the Certified Surgical First Assistant, promoting standardization and quality care across departments.
  • Enhanced surgical efficiency by skillfully handling instruments and suturing in a timely manner.

  • Made grafts for ACL/MPFL procedures. I am comfortable making grafts for any of our sport's medicine doctors.

  • Materials/special requests coordinator. I managed special requests for each procedure and coordinated between staff and sales reps to make sure we had what is needed.

  • Preceptor. I trained a majority of the new staff who came through TOSC during my time of employment.

  • From my previous job experience, I am very comfortable in the OR setting
  • Flexible and willing to do any assignments and fill any needed roles in the OR under my scope of practice
  • Have really honed my surgical tech skills and have grown while surgical assisting
  • Assist not only the surgeon in the room, but also the anesthesiologist
  • Always maintain a professional attitude, remembering that the care of the patient is always our top focus I am very strict about my sterile technique and safety with our sharps, instrumentation, etc
  • Always maintain patient confidentiality
  • Very conscientious when setting up an OR I try to not waste any supplies, so I take time to look through our supplies ahead of time and put things aside that are PRN or 'not sure of' items
  • Great team player I don't just take into consideration my own feelings, but make sure those around me are doing ok
  • Hard worker I don't like slacking and everything flows better when everyone is working together like a team
