Some responsibilities as holding the title of a Certified Medical Assistant is welcoming and rooming patients and their families to our back office. I obtain vital signs from every single patient I bring back, and depending on the reasoning for the visit, I perform standard routines. Such as I perform physicals for babies up to 2 weeks - 18 year olds. This is where I obtain a hemoglobin, lead tests, UA dip sticks if needed, and I give routinely vaccines to babies starting at 2 months up until 18 years old such as PCV, HIB, DTaP, Polio, and etc. I also help anything needed from my doctor, such as following up with referrals, medical records, and sending documentation to medical records. This job has given me the opportunity to learn how to speak professionally to other departments that I may need to follow up on for a patient. I also make phone calls if needed to pharmacies to check for in stock medications.
