• I was hired as a seasonal Sales Associate in September of 2020, then promoted to Breaking Associate in the beginning of 2021, seasonal Keyholder for the 2021 holiday period, and then to part-time Assistant Store Manager on the 8th of march, 2022
• While an associate I was often the main cashier, during rush hour on our busiest weekends, including Black Friday, and maintained inventory multiple times a week by checking in shipment boxes, unloading and organizing new merchandise, security tagging, pricing and putting new product on the sales floor.
• As a breaking associate (which is the highest associate position at Hot Topic) I was trusted with more responsibilities and was expected to maintain the store in the absence of a manager for up to 30 minutes at a time, as needed. I also was expected to accurately deal with returns and exchanges, send sales assessments daily and answer phone calls.
• While Keyholder I was expected to be able to close and open the store as the only manager, audit tills, prepare nightly deposits and close down/open up store operations.
• While Assistant Store Manager I am expected to manage scheduling errors or conflicts, interview, hire, and train new associates, handle tough conversations that may require write-ups, deal with shoplifters or upset customers, adjust time cards and make trips to the bank to for money deposits. I also am expected to handle planogram changes that involve moving around fixtures and signage, as well as large amounts of markdowns for clearance and items that go on sale.

While working at Castle I learned many important job skills, such as:

• Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs
• Suggest specific product purchases to meet customers' needs
• Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires
• Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers
• Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
• Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
• Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations as per company policy
• Inventory stock as well as prepare and put new stock out onto the sales floor
• Compute sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payment
• Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.
