- During my time lifeguarding at the Oldham County Aquatic Center, I monitored the safety and well-being of the patrons who visited. I also spent many hours taking care of the upkeep of the pool, including the bathrooms, pool deck, office area, and surrounding grounds. Being surrounded by often unsatisfied customers who wanted more than we offered, I learned to handle disagreements and how to manage the conflict so that the customer leaves either satisfied or discreetly due to their breaking the rules or causing a disturbance. Lifeguarding has taught me quick reaction time to emergency situations and how to spot an emergency before surrounding patrons. In addition to practicing quick response time, I prioritized educating patrons on water safety practices through interactive demonstrations and discussions.
- Even though I was a lifeguard, I did many other things as well, including working in the snack bar when it was busy and help was needed. I am also experienced with cash registers, having often worked at the gate when short a person, so I am very comfortable speaking and handling customer transactions.
