Hi, my name is Olivia Mancillas. I am a nursing student completing my final semester of nursing school. I am currently seeking employment opportunities in a professional healthcare setting where I can continue to learn and expand my clinical skills while providing compassionate, safe, and reliable care.
Throughout my life, I have always considered myself a kind and compassionate person. I naturally care about others and try to treat everyone with respect and empathy.
As I prepare to enter the nursing profession, I understand that being a good nurse requires more than just compassion. It also requires assertiveness, critical thinking, and the ability to advocate for patients even in difficult or uncomfortable situations.
Through my nursing program, clinical rotations, and past work experience, I have come to recognize the importance of having “thick skin” and the ability to say no when necessary. Nurses are often required to stand firm in their decisions to ensure patient safety and uphold ethical standards.
With over 13 years of healthcare experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant and OB Technician, I have developed a strong foundation in patient care, teamwork, communication, and compassionate support for patients and families.
Throughout my healthcare career, I have worked in fast-paced hospital settings providing direct patient care, assisting healthcare teams, and supporting mothers and newborns during labor and postpartum care.
As a CNA I was regularly floated to Med-Surg, ICU, and Emergency Department units to provide one-to-one observation and support for high-risk or unstable patients requiring continuous monitoring.
My experience has strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, prioritize patient safety, and provide compassionate care during vulnerable moments.
In addition to my healthcare background, I also worked as a Notary Public and Loan Signing Agent, which strengthened my professionalism, attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to handle sensitive documentation responsibly.
I believe my natural compassion is one of my greatest strengths, and I am determined to use it as I prepare to begin my career as a Registered Nurse who is fully committed to providing kind and patient-centered care. At the same time, I am actively developing the confidence and assertiveness needed to advocate effectively. By balancing empathy with strength, and the willingness to learn, I am preparing myself to become a nurse who not only cares deeply but also acts decisively in the best interest of my patients.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you further.
Sincerely, Olivia Mancillas.
