Summary

Seasoned Profession working in the community as an advocate and educator for youth with disabilities, I am currently looking for opportunities which will align with my intent to return and finish my teaching credential, and learning new skills working with children in an educational setting. With my combined work and school history, I have experience with engaging and educating youth ages 8-26.

Work History

Youth Prevention Coordinator

Pacific Clinics
  • As the Prevention Coordinator, I served as the Lead Youth Prevention Specialist in planning and implementing the youth community substance use prevention activities in the target communities across Los Angeles County
  • Managerial charges in this position was to serve as the point person with contractors (Elevate Youth CA – The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health) regarding all contract-related issues and information, including, but not limited to, fiscal, HR, contract, training, programmatic and reporting questions and forward them to Pacific Clinics personnel as appropriate
  • This included completing all grant reports (both state and federal) in compliance with grant requirements in a timely manner in collaboration with the Program Director
  • Additionally, I was responsible for coordinating community outreach and planning of educational activities, including large scale enrichment events.

Employment Specialist

  • In this role, I was responsible for providing employment preparation services and educational enrichment opportunities to transition aged youth with psychiatric disabilities at off-site employment locations and program facilities
  • Goals were created through consumer engagement, assessing consumers’ work readiness, and assisting consumers with identifying barriers to obtaining employment in the community
  • These services were overseen through collaborative effort with the consumer, support networks and treatment team, to develop and implement an employment plan which addressed the consumer’s barriers to employment
  • Additionally, I assisted and coached consumers in the development of job search skills, transportation arrangements, resume preparation, interviewing techniques and job retention skills.

Peer Support Specialist

  • In coordination with a multidisciplinary team, I was charged with assisting consumers in selecting services and/or programs useful in achieving their recovery goals
  • I provided supportive assistance to identify, access and effectively utilize community resources
  • Additionally, I was responsible for facilitating and billing for PEI groups using the ARISE module
  • Per contractual agreement with the Department of Mental Health, I assisted in the daily operations of the facility.
