I am forty seven years old and am the proud Mother of a Mechanical Engineer and Kindergarten Teacher. I believe that I have a very unique set of skills and life experience. Sixteen years ago I became addicted to speed and narcotics. I struggled with my vices and tried several times to get sober, having succeeded at getting healthy in 2017. I'm proud to say I've been sober for eight years. Maintaining healthy life habits is something I work at every day. I want to use what I have learned about addiction and recovery to help uplift and coach those looking for sober, sustainable life advice and counsel.
My life experiences have shaped me into the woman I am today. I truly believe I'm on the right path and am learning everyday. In addition to having lived through my addictions I still have daily struggles to overcome. A year ago I found out what housing insecurity is and what it feels like. Living day to day without a place to call my home was something I never thought I'd experience. I started looking for resources to help me find a home. I'm truly blessed as Healthy Acadia in Ellsworth found my boyfriend a roof over our heads.
I have a four year gap in my work history due to serious health issues, issues from years of using drugs. I had several major surgeries. Not having control over my body helped me gain so much perspective on how precious my sobriety and life are to me. I've now gone two years without any health issues and feel truly blessed.
Now back in the work force I learn new life skills personally and professionally all the time. I am excited to think that I could be a valued part of the Healthy Acadia team of angels. I want to help others on their recovery and housing security missions. I would use my life experiences and new skills I'd learn as a Life Coach and/or Intern each and every day.
