My name is Rolff Reyes, a first-generation university student here at the University of Nevada, Reno. My family and I moved to the U.S. in 2007, where my parents worked multiple odd jobs to support the family financially. Working our way up from living with both my parents, my brother, and myself in one room together, to moving into a two bedroom apartment, and now currently a house of our own, my parents taught me the value of loyalty and hard work. after graduating from Earl Wooster High School with both an Honors Diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma, I sought employment at Ross Dress for Less where I worked as a part-time sales floor associate while entering my first semester at the university. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, I transferred to Truckee Meadows Community College where tuition was cheaper so I could work more to support my family at home as well as continue my studies. As of October 2022, I made my way to management at Ross, becoming an Area Supervisor of the stock room, where I acquired valuable skills such as coordinating with associates in my team to most efficiently unload the delivery truck, stock shelves with the most current merchandise, delegate tasks based on strengths and skills, as well as being flexible, being able to work in other areas of the store such as Front End Supervisor, Cash Office, Fitting Room Associate, and wherever I was needed most.
