  • I was promoted to an assistant supervisor at the Susan Wayne Center of Excellence, a program through Justice Resource Institute. As an assistant supervisor, I have many responsibilities and duties to manage. I am responsible for keeping track of and managing 43 children, all whom have been trauma impacted and require an extensive level of care. On top of the 43 kids, I must also manage, on average, 20 staff, including residential counselors, teachers, and instructor assistants. I am responsible for completing a log book each shift, writing down every single transition each kid makes and every consequence they earn. In addition to that, I must communicate with staff and administrators to better help manage the kids and learn how their days are going. If there is a crisis, I am first to respond, and it’s my job to determine the child’s consequence depending on the level of the behavior. At the end of each shift, I must present each of the children’s days to the next shift to let them know what kind of space they may be in. Also, at the end of each shift, I have to type a summary of the day, noting how every kids’ day went and any consequences earned. In the month of June, I was acknowledged by administrators as staff of the month.
