  • Maintain security of the jail facility which can include searching detained persons for contraband such as drugs, drug paraphernalia, and weapons. Also searching the inmate's housing area for any contraband that could pose a risk to other officers or inmates.
  • Respond to all medical emergencies and render aid as needed.
  • Restrain inmates when needed.
  • Keep accurate documentation using paper logs as well as computer logs.
  • Transport inmates to court or other outside appointments
  • Produce Incident Reports that can be used by the County Attorney for prosecution.
  • Provide court testimony as needed.
  • Attend training as well as assist in training new officers.
  • Manage sentenced inmate workers and teach them how to use machines in the kitchen and laundry for example.
