Projects

Advanced Aircraft Propulsion - Gas Generator Turbomachinery Design (Fall 2021)

  • By utilizing MATLAB, took given on-design point parameters to design an eight stage axial compressor and perform pitchline analysis
  • Appropriately matched a turbine to the compressor shaft, creating a spool (assuming zero incidence and blade deviation)
  • Worked with a group to design a matching combustor (diffuser, swirler, and air flows)
  • Tested engine's off-design performance in a double-choked situation

Design and Systems Engineering - Light Attack Aircraft (Fall 2021)

  • Worked with a team to design an affordable light attack aircraft that can operate from short, austere fields near frontlines to provide close air support to ground forces at short notice. Capable of completing missions currently feasible with only attack helicopters
  • Design considerations: austere field performance, survivability, provisions for carrying/deploying weapons, service life, and service ceiling
  • Provided a "best value" design that meets specifications with considerations for both acquisition and operational costs over expected 25-year service life
  • Certifiable for military standard airworthiness (MIL-STD-516C) and consistent with Joint Service Specification Guides
