Shani'Yah Matthews-Monroe

As a University of South Carolina student pursuing a path in the medical field, I bring a rich background in customer service, embodying a collaborative team spirit. My profound passion for assisting others is evident through my extensive experience in academic tutoring for children. Engaging actively in campus extracurriculars, I contribute to fostering unity among minorities, while also playing a role in relationship-building and event planning on campus. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and am genuinely enthusiastic about getting to know new individuals.

Volunteering has been an integral part of my life, and one of the most impactful experiences was during Hurricane Dorian in 2019. Alongside a dedicated group, I played a pivotal role in collecting and donating essential items to the victims and contributing to the relief efforts. The sense of unity and the ability to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected left an indelible mark on me. Additionally, my commitment to service extends to participating in Service Saturdays with the MAPP program at the University of South Carolina. Engaging in various community service projects through this program has allowed me to further cultivate a spirit of giving back and has been an enriching part of my university experience.
