As a Medical Assistant at SAC Healthcare, my role involves various responsibilities such as patient intake, assisting in procedures, medication management, immunization, and patient education. Additionally, I had the privilege to collaborate with SAC Healthcare within the Loma Linda Residency Program for Family Medicine. Here, I closely worked with residents and attending physicians to provide care for a higher-risk population with core morbidities, directly impacting my community by addressing the needs of vulnerable individuals. As the Health Safety Coordinator for the SACH Murrieta part of my role is to cultivate an environment centered around collective learning, growth, and the promotion of safety and security. Throughout the program, we hold quarterly meetings with engaging activities including training sessions, drills, and presentations from special speakers. These initiatives are designed to enhance our understanding of safety protocols and foster a culture of vigilance and preparedness within our community.

I play a vital role in providing comprehensive patient support through a range of clinical and administrative responsibilities. This includes assisting physicians in delivering patient care, managing medical records, and ensuring adequate supplies. Accurately recording vital signs, inputting patient data into electronic health records, administering medications, collecting laboratory samples, and liaising with pharmacies and laboratories. I also oversee clinical paperwork, manage patient communications, maintain cleanliness in exam rooms, and uphold equipment maintenance standards. Additionally, I help during procedures and conduct screening tests as needed.

Accurately recording vital signs. Assists the patient by acquiring the appropriate appointment as needed. Records and maintains complete and accurate records of patient and provider communications regarding medical care and prescriptions. Retrieves messages from phone mail in a timely manner and responds to patient needs according to medical priority. Works with all providers to assist in pre -authorizing needs for medications, processing and verifying all medication refills. Documents all phone calls on call log and making sure they are transferred over to Electronic Health record. Follows through in a timely manner to all provider and patient requests.

Direct patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, gathering intake information, and conducting various clinical procedures like blood draws, administering vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavage, and EKGs. Engage with patients to understand their needs and provide education and resources directly. Maintaining exam rooms by ensuring they are well-stocked, clean, and properly set up for examinations and procedures. Coordinate provider workflows to streamline patient care processes, ensuring that providers have all necessary information, including diagnostic images, labs, and required screenings, for each patient visit. Collaborate with other providers and care teams across different departments as needed, particularly in women's health, pediatrics, Chiropractor, Acupuncture and Behavior Health. I convey important information to patients via telephone under the guidance of a provider or Registered Nurse. Compliant with ongoing and annual training requirements for my position. My experience at Neighborhood Healthcare has significantly impacted my career as a medical assistant by instilling a strong sense of purpose, promoting patient-centered are, providing avenues for personal and professional growth, and facilitating meaningful community engagement.

I began my journey with Community Health Systems in July 2010 after completing my internship as a Medical Assistant. I was hired following the successful completion of my internship at the Women's Health Clinic. This marked a significant milestone in the early stages of my career, signifying a notable achievement and the beginning of my professional journey in healthcare.

As a medical assistant intern, I work under the supervision of healthcare professionals. During my internship, I perform a variety of tasks to assist in patient care, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, assisting with physical examinations, preparing patients for procedures, and collecting specimens for testing. Additionally, I also administer medications, perform basic laboratory tests, provide patient education, and assist with administrative duties like scheduling appointments and managing medical records. Through my internship, I gaining practical experience and hands-on training to prepare me for a career as a medical assistant. This experience allows me to apply classroom knowledge in real-world healthcare settings and develop the skills necessary for success in the field.
