My responsibilities as the Director Social Services are to:

a. Provide oversight and policy guidance on all dependency cases regarding ICWA for Washoe enrolled children wherever they may reside;

b. Collect information, make assessments, develop, implement and monitor case plans through home visits, conduct interviews, telephone contacts and provide written correspondences.

c. Provide direct and indirect assistance to Washoe Tribal families with an emphasis on child dependency cases with various State child welfare agencies throughout the United States.

d. Complete relative home studies on Washoe Tribal families that have expressed an interest in providing a permanent home for the Washoe enrolled children who are placed in an out of home placement and reunification services are not feasible.

e. Attend State court hearings either by telephone or in-person, with state child welfare agencies throughout the United States.

f. Attend case staffing on a regular basis internally and with the state child welfare agencies, mediation meetings, team decision making meetings, family centered meetings, treatment team meetings in collaboration with the state child welfare agencies. Coordinate services with state child welfare agencies to ensure compliance with Public Law 95-608, Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978, Placement Preference.

g. Explain the case plan of family reunification to Washoe Tribal families and how the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 and the Adoption and Safe families Act of 1997 apply in their respective state case plan using the English language.

My responsibilities as the Human Services Director were to:

I participating in the committee through the State of NV DCFS to develop the Indian Child Welfare Resource Guide I was a Contractor with the School of Social Work, University of Nevada Reno to provide training to State, County and other Social Works on ICWA.

I also played a vital role in the formation of a domestic violence program through ITCN (Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada).

Administered the Indian Child Welfare Act, 25 U.S.C. §§ 1901-1963 (ICWA) and the Safe families Act of 1997. Attended State and County ICWA cases on behalf of Yerington Paiute Tribal Children and families. Provided Expert Witness Testimony in ICWA cases. Recruited Foster Homes on the Yerington Paiute Reservation and Colony.
