Having been employed with my employer for 25 yrs, most of it in the customer service center, I have grown a wonderful comradery with so many customers. I know they feel appreciated when they come in and see me, and I know their names. I believe without the customer, we don't have a job. Welcoming in customers that are having a bad day and talking to them and just a smile, tends to bring out the best in them even if they don't want to.
I have received many compliments and gifts from my , yes i say my customers, because I like to treat them like family, some who are alone and my conversation with them sometimes is the only one they might have in that day, so i like to have fun with them. Make them laugh when they came in ready to battle. And elderly folks tend to like to "battle".
