Founder and leader of the Opioid Stewardship Committee at NCH leading safe prescribing practices across the hospital and Endeavor System.  Implemented standards for statutory limitations on discharge prescription length.  Collected data and improved percentage of patients discharged on high dose or long acting opioids.  Reduced number of patients discharged on an opioid and a co-prescribed benzodiazepine.  Implemented a hospital wide policy of co-prescribing naloxone with high dose opioids or opioids and benzodiazepine prescriptions both in the in-patient and out-patient settings.  Oversaw the implementation an Epic Opioid risk tool utilizing AI to help calculate risk of Opioid Use Disorder and adverse events related to opioids.  Currently part of a system wide initiative for safe prescribing of opioids including the initiation of a system wide opioid pain agreement allowing for improvement of best practices for patients with long term opioid needs based on the 2022 CDC updated guidelines.
