This unit makes cases on both the state and federal level. Before moving to my Court Liaison assignment, I was the direct supervisor of the Major Crimes Unit (Homicide/SVU) of the Criminal Investigations Division. During the two years in the assignment, I managed over 40 homicide investigations and several task forces. Previously assigned as a Patrol Sergeant with the Uniform Patrol Division for seven years. After starting my career with the SC Department of Corrections working in the prison system I was hired by the Conway City Police Department to start my career in Street Policing. In 1998 moving over to CCUPD to advance my experience in community policing and finally moving to the Horry County Police Department from where I would retire in 2022. After starting with HCPD in 1999 I made Detective in only two years. In 2006 I was the Lead Narcotics Agent in one of the largest county/federal investigations. This ten month long investigation led to over twenty arrests with sentences from seven years to twenty eight years to life. This investigation also led to arrests in Texas and North Carolina in spin-off Federal investigations. In 2013 while a sergeant in the North Precinct, i introduced Town Hall Meetings in the Carolina Forest Community. The purpose of this event was to identify concerns within the community and establish a pathway for addressing existing and potential rising issues to Law Enforcement while embracing the "Community Policing" philosophy. In 2014 I was tasked with moving over 750 homeless people from a large wooded property on George Bishop Parkway. This month long campaign named "Operation Clean Sweep" successfully relocated all homeless people from this property with no arrests or injuries leading to zero calls for service at this address. Mid-2014 I was moved to Sergeant over Major Crimes. While in this duty assignment I had the unfortunate opportunity to manage over 40 homicide investigations with the majority being closed by arrests. Also during this assignment I had two detectives involved in an Officer involved shooting. 2016 I was given the Sergeant over Narcotics and Vice Unit. During this duty I was able with the help of DHEC to bring NARCAN to all Law Enforcement Agencies within Horry and Georgetown Counties. In 2018 I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. My first year as Lieutenant I authored a 56 page patrol initiative for the West Precinct of the Horry County Police Department. In 2019 I received the HCPD Life Saving Award for stopping bleeding and stabilizing a male subject who attempted suicide by slashing his own throat.
