  • Co-op student employee followed by advancing to a lateral Career Ladder Placement in the 71-A Paint Shop as a PAINTER 4102 WG-05.01.; last promoted during tenure was 07/2009 as a PAINTER 4102-10.01; 4102-09-09 on 10/2024.
  • I was previously employed as a WG-4102-10 PAINTER in shop 71-A at Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay Georgia for 5 years with almost 10 years experience working as a painter aboard Trident Submarines.
  • During this time I Increased my knowledge of the preservation requirements and the applications of critical coatings
  • Also during this time I worked closely with shop level Quality Assurance Inspectors and Naval Architect Technicians giving me a clear understanding of all preservation standards such as Submarine Maintenance Standard 6310-081-015, Naval Ships Manual Chapter 631 Volume 1,2 and 3; 009-32, Industrial Process Instruction.
  • I have become more efficient in my workmanship and my ability to train, lead, guide and direct others including the PAINTER HELPERS and Apprentices and 4102-Wg-10.01 Painters.
  • During this time I have carried out job assignments given to me while being the SOLE LEADER over junior employees and Apprentices while training and progressing full preservation jobs completed as a 4102 WG-10 in 71A. All while making sure all tasks assigned were completed on time and done right according to the OSHA and Trident Refit Facility Kings Bay Safety regulations while applying the ONE coat Sherwin Williams Fast Clad Epoxy to the following areas: Upper and Lower Sea Chest, Upper Stern Plane Recesses ( Portside & Starboard Side), Non-Oily Bilge Collection Tank # 1 & 4, Aft. & Fwd. Trim Tank, DCT #1 & 2 Tank, Aux #1-5 Tank, Aft.& Fwd. Missle Comp. Tank, Sanitary Tanks #1-10, Torpedo Impulse Tanks #1 & 2, Torpedo Shuttle Spaces # 1 & 2, Torpedo Ejection Pump Recess # 1 & 2. "WSQ-9 "Recess ( USS Florida & USS Georgia), Main Ballast Tanks # 1A-1B,2A-2B,3A-3B,4A-4B,5A-5B,MBT #6, Main Ballast Tank Dive Grates associated with MBT's 1-6, MSW, ASW, DSW Hull Inserts and associated Sea Screens, Mud Tank, Stern Tube, Trident Submarine Shaft Coupling, Bridge Trunk, Sail, Superstructure( including Missle Compartment tubes 1-24), Fwd & AFt Shore Power Trunk, Splice Trunk, Sonar Dome Shaft Tube,Thin Line Towed Array, Waste Oil Overflow, Waste Oil Collection, NFO Expansion, Sump Tank.
  • Also during this time I was assigned to be the sole leader involved in leading and directing the workers assigned in taking Paint Samples ( over 400 samples taken ) from areas such as the Forward, Missile and Engine Room compartments onboard the following submarines: 736 USS West Virginia, 729 USS Georgia, 740 USS Wyoming, 738 USS Maryland, 732 USS Alaska, 728 USS Florida
  • I have also led the workers in taking paint samples off of miscellaneous pieces and attachments to include touch-up prep and paint inside the SOC Lockout Chambers and Dry Deck Shelter including the DDS Fly Away Bridge Beams and Spool Pieces from the SSGN Submarines 729 USS Georgia and 728 USS Florida
  • While working in 71-A Paint Shop I have worked on 2nd and 3rd shifts for various rotations of 3 months at the time and was assigned to be stand-in worker leader and stand-in supervisor for a period of 1 shift-3 weeks at the time
  • During that time I carried out tasks of ensuring the workers were safe and completed all jobs passed down to my shift from previous shifts and from the daily TRF Job Briefing
  • While as a member of Shop 71-A Trident Refit Facility, King Bay Georgia I completed the Painter / Blaster certification course, C7, SSPC - AMPP Coatings Applicator, Naval Basic Painter Inspector course.
  • As a 4102 Wg-10 I have Fwd. Deployed 4 times on a Fly Away team in Continued Maintenance Availability to Diego Garcia ( B.I.O.T) in support the Navy's Submarine Force.
  • I have been the Sole Leader / WorkLeader / Coatings Applicator in applying numerous 1st time coating applications on Trident Submarines at Trident Refit Facility that were Inspected and Visually observed by NAVSEA Quality Assurance Inspectors along with Naval Architect Technicians to include: Sherwin Williams Fast Clad, Sherwin Williams 159 Zinc Primer, International- Intersleek,Interlux.
  • I have also used and have extensive knowledge in using the Sherwin Williams Pneumatic cartridge gun using the 300 Milliliter cartridge system
  • I use and apply in all interior paints; epoxy type paints such as F-111, F-150 type 3 & 4
  • Im currently training and beginning to work on pieces to be fit on the new US Navy Columbia Class Submarine. Making me one of the first 4102 Wg-10 Painters in the Navy to work on a Dual Platform. ( Trident & Columbia Class Submarine)
  • I spray and brush the Sherwin Williams Ultra High Solid primer, stripe and top coats
  • I use a Wiwa and 2 other types of pumps called a Super and Cover Cat
  • These are used for the Sherwin Williams Ultra High Solid Paint and for the Sherwin Williams Fast Clad
  • I operate and tend the paint rigs used to spray the Epoxy Paints, they are the Graco Bulldog
  • I´m very familiar with the Hydro-Cat Robot used to Crawl & Preserve the hull
  • I have also worked and operated this machine on numerous operations around the clock and through scheduled lunches
  • I am familiar with the use of different instruments to inspect paint and I have previously COMPLETED and PASSED the NAVSEA BASIC PAINT INSPECTOR´S COURSE, giving me a better understanding of what drives the proper application of preservation coatings for the Submarine Force of the Navy
  • These instruments include the WTF and DFT gauges used to measure the thickness of the paint being applied, instruments used for testing Chloride ( SCM 400 ), profiles ( SPRING MICROMETER ), and temperatures ( TQC Dewcheck & Elcometer 219 Dewmeter ) such as humidity and surface temp, dew point and ambient temperatures
  • I have Extensive Equipment Cleaner and Tank Cleaning knowledge to support Shop 71-A TRFKB
  • I am also experienced in all tools used in cleaning the shop, such as the HI-POINT STEAM MACHINES, WHEELERIZER, BOBCAT, SCISSOR LIFT, AQUA DYNE HYDRO BLASTER and various pumps
