Work History
Data Center Technician II
4 Months- Led shift operations across two 15,000 sq. ft. data suites, managing hardware provisioning, cable dressing, and RMA break-fix for 450+ active racks.
- Deployed and racked 120+ 42U/48U racks from crating through production handoff, including seismic anchoring, dual A/B Smart PDU bus routing, and top-of-rack (ToR) switch integration.
- Diagnosed and resolved critical hardware failures, including system board DIMM channel errors and RAID controller issues, using iDRAC9 and Linux CLI utilities such as ipmitool SEL list and dmesg.
- Terminated and tested 100g/400g optical interconnects (MTP/MPO and LC duplex) by running OTDR traces and digital scoping to maintain insertion loss strictly below 0.35 dB.
- Monitored branch circuit breakers and PDU phase balance via DCIM software, reallocating dual-corded server power feeds to uphold N+1 redundancy standards.
- Resolved an average of 45+ hardware and deployment tickets weekly in ServiceNow, achieving a 99.4% first touch SLA resolution rate.
Data Center Technician
4 Years 9 Months- Performed ongoing physical layer support including server diagnostics and asset lifecycle management across infrastructure within a 24/7/365 Tier III enterprise colocation center.
- Performed hot-swaps of failed enterprise SAS/SATA drives and redundant hot-plug power supplies, and replaced high-CFM chassis fan modules to maintain system readiness while following anti-static (ESD) protocols.
- Installed overhead fiber trays (fiber-runner) and under-floor copper pathways; routed velcro-dressed and labeled over 8000 structured Cat6a and patch connections per ANSI/TIA-606-C standards.
- Managed comprehensive server decommissions by pulling obsolete hardware, de-cabling bays, verifying drive sanitization (NIST 800-88 3-pass wipe), and generating e-waste manifests.
- Assisted senior facilities engineers with monthly load bank tests, battery impedance readings on Eaton UPS systems, and CRAH filter change cycles.
- Served as primary hands-and-feet technician for off-site network engineering teams, performing physical loopbacks, console roll-ins, and BIOS/firmware flashing.
- Resolved hardware incidents through accurate troubleshooting of power, cooling, and connectivity issues.
- Monitored server racks, network hardware, and environmental alarms to maintain stable data center operations.
- Performed rack-and-stack installs, equipment swaps, and structured cabling with consistent attention to detail.
- Tracked maintenance execution by documenting ticket updates and asset changes within service management systems, ensuring accurate system records.
- Inspected UPS, CRAC, and generator systems to support uptime and rapid fault detection.
