Work History

Administrative Assistant & Peer Support Specialist

Joshua D. Smith & Associates

  • I am the first point of contact for our clients. I help them with their initial paperwork and get to know them so that I can match them with the worker that best suits their individual needs. Processed documents through copying, faxing, and scanning to ensure accurate recordkeeping. We are still a paper only company so I am in charge of filing all of the documents as they come in. Conducted audits requested from insurance companies. I work very closely with the clinical supervisor and all of the workers offering any type of help they require. Tracked required documents to maintain compliance and support operational needs. Created daily schedules for clinicians to optimize client appointments and workflow. And I answer our multiple line phones. I have the calls forwarded to my phone so that all client calls are answered. I have recently taken the certified peer support course and have been working directly with clients since February of 2025.

ACTIVITIES

I love to read non-fiction mostly, but I'll read anything I can get my hands on. I love to have the actual book in my hands instead of the digital versions. I am always buying books. I get a lot from thrift stores, and when I am done reading it I will try and give it to someone that I think will like it. I collect Dean Koontz books, he is my favorite author, and I now have around 30., I put together clothing drives for those in need no matter the ages, at least 3 times a year. I will pick up donations from people all over Southeast Idaho. I separate the trash from the useable items then I wash, separate into sex and size, make a detailed itemized list of which items are in what bags – then attach the list to the storage bag, fold the items so that they don't wrinkle, and then they are stored until delivery. I go through Facebook and Instagram to find someone in need that doesn't ask for much, but I can tell needs a lot. I give items for the entire family – clothes, shoes, art supplies, movies, board games, bath supplies we have never used, pots and pans I replace yearly, electronics my family is no longer using, and whatever toys I can get rid of. Sometimes, I get to throw in a gas card or grocery card which is wonderful. I love my project and hope to grow in time.
