- Ever since i can remember my family has had boats in the water. Growing up my dad had twin 250hp 2-stroke Yamaha engines. They aren't the most reliable engines so him and I would always be out back popping the cowling cover and checking oil levels and doing other small maintenance to both engines. I don't remember it all too well, but I have a basic understanding of a few components of a Yamaha outboard engine. This is where I developed my passion to be an outboard engine mechanic.
