Additional Information

Outside of work, I have several different projects I use to keep up, and learn new IT connection technologies, mostly centered around networking. My home lab currently includes a Cisco ISR 1111 with a catalyst 3750x. I have 2 servers, a Dell R620 and R710. The R620 runs vmware as a hypervisor, and the r710 is currently running Unraid. Both run respective services, on the R620, I have a cisco wlc virtualized, with a spare ap as learning. I also engineered, and maintain a unifi network for a non profit organization. This network consists of a main user vlan, an audio/video vlan; guest, user and iot wireless networks and security controls. I also maintain automation for the av system. In an ever-changing IT field, I also pay attention to new developing security vulnerabilities, and how they work. My degree does include an emphasis on Cybersecurity, so maintaining a high level of security awareness is very important to me.

Home Lab

I run a small home lab, contained in a 42u rack. From top to bottom, I run Unifi OS for primary routing, as well as firewall capabilities, IDS and IPS. From the Unifi gateway, I run 2 networks for basic guest access to keep things simple. Throughout the rack, I run multiple Cisco Catalyst Switches in a stack, with a Cisco ISR 1111 router for lab exercises. Service wise, I run 2 servers, a Dell R620 and Dell R710. The R620 runs VMware ESXI, and the R710 runs UnraidOS. Primary network services include self hosted dns and content filtering using PiHole. From the PiHole, content is filtered again utilizing OpenDNS with all dns requests forwarded from pihole to opendns. Various other services including a self hosted storage solution (NextCloud), media servers and services, and Zero Trust Network Access connectors utilizing Twingate for remote access. Okta is used as an IDP for authenticating with Twingate and other services where SSO is supported.
