- Deployed to Deepwater Horizon's major oil spill
- For 45 days, 14 hours a day, I helped recover 270,000 gallons of oil out of the Gulf of Mexico
- The job consisted of one of the most unpleasant environments involving extreme heat, being covered in oil, deploying and recovering the Spilled Oil Recovery System, and working atop external holding tanks holding discharge hoses to recover as much oil as possible
- As Damage Control Central Phone Talker and Plotter, I monitored and documented for the Damage Control Assistant
- Due to my keen understanding of damage control and strong communication skills I helped lead USCGC Walnut earn a 'clean sweep' 2011 Tailored Ship's Training Assessment
- I acted as one of the primary Aids to Navigation Technicians, maintaining 116 Aids to Navigation through 14 waterways surrounding Hawaii and American Samoa
- My attention to detail was a direct result of USCGC Walnut receiving a 99.6% aid availability, the highest of any District 14 Buoy Tender
- Received two Letters of Commendation prior to leaving.
