CIA management chain in early 2002 denied approval for final submission of my thesis dealing with the disappearance of Capt. Michael Scott Speicher during the Gulf War. While the paper was unclassified and CIA Leadership had preapproved the subject, the topic was deemed too politically charged during the run up to the Iraq War to allow its publication in academia.
