I love being outside in the forest and grew up mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, and walking the trails. When I was really young I helped my Dad and Grandfather split wood to burn in our furnace. We would stay out all day until the truck was full and then come home, unload it, and stack it.

Gardening is something that comes naturally for me and I consider myself lucky. Not all people can grow plants. I like to know where my families' food comes from and I never use pesticides. I use natural remedies, such as lady bugs, pray mantis', and white vinegar to get rid of the destructive insects. It's so nice to just walk outside in the summer through fall to pick what I need for a meal or just a snack. I have a strawberry patch, a small garden each year, and something always growing inside.

Animals have always been a love of mine. No matter what kind of animal, I will help it, care for it, or whatever needs done even if the end is not a happy ending. Needless to say, I have cried over animals I have just met. I have saved many wild animals and patched up the neighborhood dogs and cats. It's almost like they know where to go to get help. Many dogs never came back after they were healed or well on their way of healing. I take the wild animals to a rehabilitation center about 40 minutes from my house. I have taken bats, birds, a squirrel, and called to ask for advice on a opossum who fell into our pond on winter.
