I have been a manager with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service for over 25 years at Miami International Airport. This entailed the management and assignment of a workforce of more than 900 officers on a daily basis while monitoring and maintaining the Ports daily budgetary expenditures.   • Enhance enforcement and intelligence capabilities by working closely with industry partners.

Coordinate with MDAD, MDPD, Local, State and Federal Agencies to enhance awareness of normal CBP Port Operations and activities in preparation for responses, mitigation and subsequent recovery efforts to incidents and events that pose a threat to the international flow of commerce and travel into the United States. Manage significant resource issues, ensuring coordination and integration of resources by multiple supervisors in multiple areas. Coordinate across shifts and terminals to ensure staffing needs and are addressed in conjunction with flight projections and actual arrivals, while maintaining an enforcement posture. Manage passenger traffic mitigation, processing of VIPs, Diplomats, and Government officials in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Implement and enforce the requirements of the CBP occupational safety and health program by ensuring compliance with CBP HB 5200-08B and applicable safety directives and local safety procedures. This includes but is not limited to ensuring that workplace hazards are identified and abated to the extent possible; work-related injuries and illnesses are thoroughly investigated and appropriate corrective actions are taken to minimize the likelihood of a recurrence; appropriate personal protective equipment for employees is made available and proper use and maintenance is communicated and reinforced; and employees are requested to complete applicable safety and health training as required and held accountable for timely completion.
  • Develop local procedures to ensure that all mandatory supervisory training is completed timely by both permanent and temporary supervisors and a mentoring relationship is established. Develop specific action plans to address local concerns and remedy problems identified through the results obtained from the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey.

  • Developed and supervised the Welcome to Miami (WTM) Operation that was responsible for apprehending and processing over 600 arriving aliens under adverse actions as well as numerous narcotic seizures and the ports first Forced Labor Trafficking cases.
  • Team Member responsible for developing the National Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Automated Passport Control (APC) at CBP Headquarters in Washington DC in 2015. This also included the training rollout to numerous major airports throughout the U.S. and Canada, including JFK and LAX airports.
  • Served on two separate occasions as a mentor for the Miami District mentor program.
