Benjamín Herrera

My name is Benjamin Herrera, and I am a 17-year-old athlete. I began my journey in sports at the age of 3 when I played soccer for the first time. After leaving soccer at the age of 7, I started practicing fencing, where I excelled, but I never had the opportunity to compete due to a lack of resources. However, my true passion emerged when I first played basketball at the age of 11. The moment I had the ball in my hands, I felt a connection that motivated me to dedicate myself to this sport with enthusiasm.

After the pandemic, I picked up basketball again at the age of 15 and quickly developed as a strong defender, although I needed to improve my offensive skills. I became a fan of the Golden State Warriors and admired DeMar DeRozan's playing style, which influenced my own game. Over time, I transitioned from being just a defender to taking on leadership roles and improving my offensive contributions, primarily standing out as a point guard/shooting guard.

I moved to the United States in search of greater opportunities and faced challenges, including a wrist injury that kept me off the court for a month. Despite this setback, I returned to the court, focusing on improving my defensive and offensive skills. I aspire to play at the collegiate level and eventually reach the NBA or EuroLeague.
