Teacher of the Month, Spears Up Award

My assistant principal said as she was giving me  Teacher of the Month, that Coach Dowl creates meaningful relationships with her students and her players. All students feel safe in her classroom and with her. Coach Dowl runs her classroom from "bell to bell" where students are constantly working. She is up moving around and answering questions. She uses a timer to get her students to stay on task, often calling on multiple students to keep them engaged. On the court, she has led her basketball team to an undefeated regular season. She helps her colleagues keep the basketball players in line, in constant contact with parents and with the players themselves. As far as attendance goes, she is near perfect attendance. And most importantly, Coach Dowl is a positive figure in our school-always smiling and joking around with her colleagues- never a negative thing to say. Her reputation in the community is evident in the way she communicates with her players parents and in the groups that follow her and the players to the away games.
