Work History

Juvenile Probation Officer/Victim Advocate

Berks County
08.1988 - Current

I have been with the Juvenile Probation Department for the past 35 years. I have held every position within the office. I have been a Line Probation Officer; an Intensive Probation Officer; a School-based Probation Officer; and Intake Officer and most recently the Victim/Witness Advocate for the department. I also was instrumental in running the Earthrise Snack Shop, located within the County Services Center. Within these various rolls, I have created probation plans for juvenile clients; written reports presented to the court regarding juvenile clients, both dealing with their backgrounds and supervision needs, along with how they have done under the supervision of the office. I have maintained contact with the parents of juvenile clients and worked cohesively to reach the end goal of the rehabilitation of juvenile defendants. I have worked with juvenile placement facilities and various mental health providers to effect change in clients. I have been the master scheduler of mental health services in order to coordinate mental health treatment for juveniles. I worked with, and supervised, clients, who worked at Juvenile Probation run snack shop. I currently have daily communication with victims of juvenile offenses; collecting information relative to restitution and the impact of the crime upon them, while informing them of victim based services. Additionally within this role, I oversee the input of restitution within the Clerk of Courts Office. I am able to proficiently address the court, victims and clients as needed and am able to treat all parties with respect.
