• Able to give tailored salon services to dogs according to their owners’ instructions, each individual dog’s needs and their breed standards (AKC and current trends), while following health and safety guidelines.
• Capacity to make an assessment of each dog’s current physical and emotional state, read their body language and ask questions relevant to the dog’s health and history of anything that needs awareness (vaccinations, illnesses, conditions, concerns and triggers).
• Ability to regularly check for any signs of fear and/or aggression in dogs.
• Ability to make dogs feel more at ease during their appointments, keeping an eye on their behavior, in case anything needs to be informed to their owners and if any other course of action needs to be taken to put the dog’s comfort and safety first, while ensuring the safety of everyone else at the salon as well.
• Able to give basic advice for owners on what to do to maintain their dog’s grooms at home as well (like frequent brushing and visits to their veterinarians for any allergies or any other issues their dogs may need help with).
