Work History

Teacher

Brookings-Harbor School District 17-C
Brookings, Oregon, USA
01.2007 - Current
  • Endorsements in Math and Science have allowed me to be a part of many exciting teaching opportunities and grow as an educator. In both subject areas new curriculum adoptions required changing practices to align with current national standards as previous state standards were phased out making it essential to stay current on state and federal education requirements.
  • Establishing student learning goals as well as professional learning goals and collecting individual student data at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year allows me to monitor education practices and analyze subpopulations growth.
  • Working in professional learning communities (PLCs) is essential to helping serve all students in our district with varied needs and backgrounds.
  • Distance learning classroom adaptations and various technologies such as google meetings and classrooms.

Civil Rights Compliance Coordinator (Education Associate II)

Alaska Department of Education and Early Development
Juneau, Alaska, USA
01.2005 - 01.2006
  • Conducted civil rights compliance reviews of secondary and postsecondary schools as required by the State’s Method of Administration (MOA) agreement with the Office of Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Prepared Letters of Findings after conducting onsite reviews. Worked with local education agencies (LEAs) to provide technical assistance and help develop compliance plans as needed.
  • Wrote and submitted two biennial reports to OCR in the two years I held the position which helped get the state current with the Memorandum of Procedures requirements for vocational education.
  • Analyzed data to determine a schedule for performing onsite-monitoring reviews of LEAs to be reviewed following OCR regulations and requirements for vocational programs. Used the data to write the state’s targeting plan that is submitted to OCR.
  • Attended annual MOA national training conducted by OCR for coordinators in 2005 in Portland, OR and in 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
