Automotive Projects

  • Dedicated a Mazda MX-5, Sixth Generation Corvette, and BMW E36 specifically for track drifting.
  • Carried out a variety of performance and reliability modifications, repairs, and general maintenance and track preparation tasks.
  • Designed and implemented custom suspension systems to improve handling characteristics.

Solidworks Projects

  • Completed a variety of projects that included designing parts, creating assemblies, and creating drawings. Lots of practice with using different features and methods when designing a part like extruding, cutting, sweeping, lofting, rib or shelling, revolving, mirroring , creating patterns, creating threads manually or automatically, creating multiple configurations of a part, using hole wizard, changing appearances, or applying a surface pattern.
  • Practice with importing files into an assembly and using a variety of mates such as the cam mate, limit mate, rack and pinion mate, and gear mate.
  • Practice with using photo 360 (changing light angles, changing colors and adding finishes ) and creating animations. Challenged with thought provoking and time consuming projects that required students to meet limitations on the amount of steps or features.
  • Some Projects included: Trailer wheel, ball joint parts and assembly, screwdriver, spur gear and assembly, test tray, food container, circular base mount, gasket with pattern, machined block with multiple configurations, patterned pieces, threaded insert, nut, threaded piece, gate assembly, rack and pinion assembly, cam assembly, bow and arrow assembly, sliding cover assembly, egg beater assembly animation, pick and place robot photo, helicopter photo, blimp photo, mini vise assembly, and over 50 additional parts. Drawings (blueprints) were created for some projects as well.
  • Current Projects: Variations of a Derby Cover (reverse engineered), very detailed sunglasses.

Introduction to Engineering Projects

  • Conducted a mock root cause analysis project on sunglasses failure, utilizing methodologies such as the 6M (Man, Machine, Method, Material, Measurement, Mother Nature), 5 Whys, and Fishbone Diagram to systematically identify and address underlying issues based on given scenarios.
  • Acquired proficiency in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) through practical application in a mock project focused on diagnosing and resolving issues with a problematic cash dispenser.
  • Undertook a mock project to engage in the design control process for a backpacking backpack, completing alpha, beta, and gama design phases.
