Won 3rd Place out of 50 Participants In Tractor Tech

During my Sophmore year with FFA, I sought an opportunity that involved hands-on work and discovered the tractor technology option. This involved refurbishing tractors and answering a total of 200 questions—100 true or false and 100 multiple-choice. I experienced significant anxiety and dedicated myself to rigorous study, reviewing questions from previous years. To prepare, I stayed after school for four hours each day to practice with a tractor in our shop. On the day of the competition in Livingston, Texas, I awakened at 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, I was met with a multitude of participants, which heightened my nerves, especially as I was separated from my teammates. In the first round, we tackled the true or false questions, and fortunately, many were among those we had studied. The next segment involved the multiple-choice questions, which proved challenging, as several options seemed similar. Finally, we moved on to refurbishing the tractor, where we identified flaws to restore its functionality. My team excelled in this section, finishing in second place. As we awaited the announcement of our overall scores and placement, we were filled with apprehension. Although we felt disheartened for not placing first or second, we were overjoyed to hear our name announced for third place. This victory earned us a trophy and two toolboxes, bringing smiles to our faces.
