
• Responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and execution of residential habilitation programmes and training to advance an individual's skills in areas such as:
o daily living skills
o budgeting
o grooming
o nutritional planning / meal preparation
o use of public transportation
o use of community resources
o shopping
o housekeeping
o physical health & development
o adaptive behavior/independent living
• In the absence of the manager, to report all pertinent information to the appropriate supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to, reportable incidents per 624 Regulations, staff vacancies, parental, medical and day program communication.
• Instruct and train DSP’s by modeling techniques in the following areas: Assisting residents in planning and participating in evening and weekend recreational activities, including the monitoring and appropriate use of personal allowance monies. Participating in moderate physical activities as part of recreation program is required.
• Assist the manager with assigned tasks such as, but not limited to, scheduling, personal allowance management, and household budget preparation.
• Monitor and help arrange daily activities and events, including demonstrating acceptable relationships with residents to all employees. Formally and informally supervise the personnel in this and any areas.
• In charge of emergency evacuation, which includes assuring resident safety in all fire exercises and actual situations. This job requires the ability to climb and descend fire escapes and help others in doing so. This may require both verbal and physical urging, as well as lifting to evacuate and the capacity to administer first aid to participants.
• Supervise the staff in the recording of individual's progress on daily paperwork such as checklists, behaviour data, residential habilitation checklists for billing purposes, and progress notes, family contact log, recreation/community integration reports, clothing and personal effects inventory. Communicate pertinent information to coworkers and supervisors both verbally and in writing.
• Participate in annual DQI/State Audits for the residence.
• Perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others
• Assist in supervising the DSP’s in ensuring the necessary completion and understanding of mandatory department trainings such as CPR/First Aid/AED, SCIP-R, Safety and Security, AMAP, Relias platform trainings, HIPPA, NYS Justice Center, Corp. Compliance trainings to name a few.
