Position: Part-time Substitute Cook and Meal Delivery Driver

Summary
This flexible, on-call position is responsible for assisting with food preparation and delivery across the school district's meal program. The ideal candidate will be reliable, adaptable, and capable of performing a mix of kitchen and transportation duties to ensure a smooth and safe food service operation.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Support (as Substitute Cook)
- Assist in preparing, cooking, and portioning school meals according to established recipes and food safety standards.
- Help assemble and package meals for delivery to various school sites.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation by washing dishes, equipment, and work surfaces.
- Assist with other kitchen duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager or Head Cook.
Meal Delivery (as Delivery Driver)
- Load and transport insulated food containers and supplies to designated school locations using a district vehicle.
- Follow scheduled delivery routes efficiently to ensure timely meal service at each site.
- Perform basic daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues.
- Unload items at delivery sites and retrieve empty containers for return.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience in food service or commercial kitchen work is desirable.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Food Handler's Card.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for long periods.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
