Educational HIstory

Summary

My educational history wasn't the best, I've been to a lot of schools in my lifetime, more than the average person, and I've had my ups and downs. However, throughout these years in school, each and every one of them has taught me valuable lessons. I've become a new and better person because of each of these experiences, and I wouldn't go back in time to change anything. Throughout my childhood, I had a hard life mentally and emotionally, and because I was exposed to this at a young age and was able to get help from those around, I want to use my story to help others out there like me as well.

  • This school was one of the first schools I went to. It ran from Pre-K to 8th grade, here, I was able to be academically prosperous. I have participated in various sports since the age of 8 and have received a lot of trophies for them as well. I loved this school because many of my friends were here, and I was doing pretty well. Unfortunately, I had to leave then due to my mother getting married, and we had to move.

  • After graduating from middle school, I went to this school. This school was most certainly a new experience for me at the time. I felt like an adult. It was exciting, and I met a lot of good people, but, unfortunately, I didn't get to stay for long. This school that I chose was too far from where I lived, and at the time, being only 14 years old, the travel took a toll on me. I didn't get much sleep, and I couldn't study properly, so I had to change my school.

750 Baychester Ave, Bronx, NY 10475

Harry S. Truman High School
Bronx, NY
02.2017 - 04.2019
  • This was the next high school I chose. It was close to where I lived at the time, so it was convenient. This was kind of a hard school to get into because the board of education had given my mom and me a hard time, but then I got in. Unfortunately, through all our hard work of getting in, I wasn't a very good student at the time. After my second year there, I didn't have friends, and I was alone a lot of the time. As a young kid, I had a lot I was dealing with mentally, including the feeling of social anxiety and loneliness. At the time, I didn't have anyone to talk to, so that pushed me to skip school a lot by staying home and locked up in my room. That's when the tardiness came about, and I started to fail my classes. One day, my guidance counselor gave me some words of wisdom and encouragement, so I decided to give it another go. However, because I was failing all my classes, I couldn't stay in school any longer, so he gave me another opportunity. Which led me to my next high school.

240 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10003

Manhattan Comprehensive Night And Day High School
Manhattan, NY
09.2019 - 11.2021
  • This school was recommended by my guidance counselor. I had decided to give school another chance, and since the classes were at night, I thought it would work for me. I started to enjoy my time there because I had joined the women's volleyball team, and I was quite good at it. They had made me the middle hitter because I could jump really high, but overall, I think I did pretty decently there. My grades were average, and I made some friends. The only problem I had was once the pandemic hit. We all had to use computers for class, and I didn't find it very motivating, I was discouraged a lot. So at that time, I gave up once again. A year later, they invited me back, and I went, but unfortunately, I started working for the first time, a month later and couldn't focus on both tasks. It took a toll on me, so I decided to leave for good.

2155 University Ave, Bronx, NY 10453

Bronx Community College GED Equivalency Program
Bronx, NY
03.2023 - 06.2023
  • A year and three months later, I thought I'd give it one more try and finally finish school. That's when I heard about GED programs for those who were too old for high school and wanted to finish school. After much searching, I came upon this school and decided to sign up for the program. I had chosen the subject of my liking and worked really hard at it. I was so determined that I studied day and night. It took a couple of months, but I had passed my test and graduated.
