Essential Roles and Responsibilities
Supervision Training and Support
• Directly supervise all activities of treatment parents related to the treatment and care of TFC youth through regular home visits and phone calls
• Provide 24-hour emergency “on-call” service to Treatment Foster families according to designated schedule
• Assist in the arrangement of respite services
Documentation and Compliance
• Maintain documentation of in-home and other ongoing training activities
• Prepare written summaries, Individual Service Plans and quarterly updates, discharge summaries, and program contract regarding youth and families
• Ensure completion of and collect TFC parent documentation, including LODES, Medication Logs, Respite logs, copies of medical information, and any other required documentation
• Assess each child’s needs in all life domains and develop measurable and objective treatment plan goals
• Provide ongoing advocacy and support for the child’s educational needs
• Initiate and coordinate psychiatric, psychological, and other supportive therapeutic services when appropriate
• Monitor the progress of the child’s goals and modify the treatment plan as needed
• Assure that all policies, procedures and standards relating to child safety and well being are followed
• Make regular contact with each youth to assess safety and well being
• Assure that TFC parents follow procedures for child illness and provision of routine healthcare
• Develop an individual safety plan for each child and assist other staff, in crisis intervention to protect youth, staff, and property when transporting youth, maintain safe driving procedures
• Adhere to mandated child abuse reporting laws
Working with Biological Family
• Work to maximize the likelihood of a positive relationship between TFC youth and their biological families
• Assess and identify the needs of the birth family to achieve their family service plan goals
• Empower birth families through systems education and advocacy training
• Involve the biological family in all aspects of treatment planning including regular updates on youth’s progress
• Coordinate regular contact between the child and his/her biological family as appropriate
• Maintain regular contact and open lines of communication with youth’s treatment team and any other significant community persons
• Represent agency regarding court involvement of the youth
• Provided oversight to meet the provision of structure in activities of daily living and to ensure safety of the client, family, and /or community.
• Define boundaries for immediate intervention to ensure safety, permanency, and well-being.
• Monitored and documented reaction to stress, parenting techniques, impulsive reactions, or detrimental expectations.
• Conducted individualized face-to-face visits to correct specific deficits in parenting skills.
• Provided behavior management techniques to improve competence and knowledge of discipline, appropriate supervision, childcare, development, and realistic expectations of behaviors of children.
• Meet with family’s caseworker to learn the family’s needs as identified in the CPS/YS Safety Plan, FFA, or YBE and to develop/review a specified needs list to be met during the initial visits.
• Completed monthly progress summary for each client and submit to DHHR by the tenth (10th) day of the following month.
• Served as a communications link with referring agencies.
• Attended all MDTs and court hearings as requested by caseworker.
• Attended and participated in self-directed team meetings and activities.
• Managed individual client services and coordinated with clinical staff to develop the client rehabilitation.
