- As a student research assistant for Dr. Hislop I have gained experience in conducting archival research of Cal Poly yearbooks and newspapers in analysis of advocacy, conversation, culture, etc. surrounding race and gender within the University’s history. Much of my work pertains to extracting relevant information from numerous sources over the course of decades, and drawing connections based on these findings.

- Over the course of the 2025 academic summer quarter, I was selected to participate in the “Lace on Race” fellowship led by Professor Alexia Arani of California Polytechnic’s Women’s Gender and Queer Studies Department. The aim of this project was to amplify Black feminist public scholarship through archiving, publication, and curation. I worked closely with the texts of feminist scholar Lace Jeanine Watkins, (1963-2023), a Black feminist writer, organizer, and theologian who dedicated her life to mitigating harms of white supremacy upon marginalized communities. Across her vast archive of written and recorded work, I identified literary patterns, coded texts according to theme, and assessed curatorial possibilities. All of which served as a contribution to the ongoing process of publishing Watkin’s work in the form of an educational text.
