I truly love being outdoors and getting to be one with the land. I think it is crucial for the soul to connect with the Earth and live harmoniously with everyone and everything else who share this beautiful land. Hiking and exploring have been safe spaces for me and have allowed me to step outside of some of the mundane parts of everyday life and let myself be free in my connection to the land. I think we have been blessed to live on such a beautiful landscape here in the midwest and want to bring it to the attention of others in hopes of protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations to enjoy as well.
I also highly enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them as well. I have been a people person my entire life and find it very easy to talk to others. I think there is great wealth in getting to know as many people as possible. It not only helps you to connect with someone you may not have approached initially but it also presents you with many different personalities and helps you to understand different perspectives making you a well rounded individual.
I think professional and general self development are crucial to growth and success in an individuals journey through life. I enjoy pushing myself to learn new things and venture into new areas of study that I wouldn't have necessarily chosen for myself in my comfort zone. This is how I got into my area of study in college. I applied to college as an education major and found by taking an environmental conservation class, by choice, that the environment and caring for it was my calling. I find peace and comfort in my area of study and know that myself and those I work alongside with each day all have a similar goal in mind, to leave this Earth better than we found it.
